Meet Mykayla

Mykayla Turner holds a Master of Sacred Music degree with a Liturgical Musicology concentration from Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, TX and a Master of Theological Studies degree from Conrad Grebel University College in Waterloo, ON. She obtained her A.C.C.M. in Piano Performance from Conservatory Canada in 2023 Currently, Mykayla is a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Kathleen Johnson in the Faculty of Theology at Saint Paul University in Ottawa, ON.

Mykayla is an aspiring liturgical scholar. She has presented her work at conferences in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. In 2023, she was selected as one of three finalists in the Emerging Scholars Forum hosted by The Hymn Society in the United States and Canada.

Mykayla is an active church musician and liturgist in both Mennonite and ecumenical contexts. She has received instruction in piano performance and accompaniment, choral conducting, and liturgical leadership. She also received rudimentary instruction in organ performance. Recently, Mykayla served as Worship Coordinator for The Church at Nairn, a Mennonite congregation in southwestern Ontario. She co-launched Menno Youth Ensemble in 2023, and she continues to co-direct Ontario Mennonite Music Camp. She also chairs the team of volunteers who maintain Together in Worship, a curated collection of free worship resources from Anabaptist sources.
